Fenneropenaeus indicus, formerly known as Penaeus indicus, is one of the major commercial aquaculture species in the world. It used to contribute 75 to 90% of the catch of shrimp species in Kenya. With several common names, one of which this species is known for to have is the Indian white prawn.
